Annual Art Competition organized at JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School by JK Arts Foundation



On 19 th May, an art competition was organized at the JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School, Tirth Nagar Talab Tillo, Jammu by JK Arts Foundation as a part of its Annual Art Competition. Global Shapers, Jammu hub members actively volunteered to motivate children to unleash their creativity. More than fifty students of the school participated in the competition.


India’s motto for its present G20 Presidency is Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam- ‘One Earth. One Family. One Future.’ India in its G20 Presidency under this theme aims to focus on the global need to accelerate the Green Transition and to move towards a sustainable lifestyle in order to secure a better tomorrow for our planet. Its Lifestyle for Environment or LiFE scheme aims to implement positive change from below by spreading awareness about a sustainable lifestyle at the grassroots level. JK Arts Foundation, a not-for-profit edu-tech organization devoted to the mission of spreading ‘Arts In Education’ with a special focus on reaching the far-flung and underserved communities, lays emphasis on inculcating values and life lessons through art among children in order to build a better tomorrow. The Foundation appreciates the necessity of India’s theme of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ in today’s world which is undergoing a food, environment and energy crisis and is committed to spread awareness about this theme at the grassroots level.


The JKAF team members began the session by explaining to the children the significance of the theme ‘One Earth. One Family. One Future.’ Free art kits were distributed to each child. Then, the children were encouraged to create artworks that reflected the broad theme of the importance of a sustainable lifestyle and environmental conservation in order to create a safe and productive future. Members of the Global Shapers, Jammu hub also participated in this session and effectively assisted the JKAF team in conducting the session.


In the end, the art competition organized at the JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School was a resounding success. Children highly enjoyed the session as an interactive learning experience. The teaching faculty of the school was also impressed by the JKAF team’s efforts. One faculty member was reported to state, “Students expressed their ideas through poems & artworks. This was truly an enriching experience for the students.”
